I’m in the thousands at this point, I suspect.
I’m not talking pots of hummus destroyed or LEGO models built – although possibly those too – but rather salon owners chatted with.
And there’s something which just about every successful one I know has figured out.
This is true regardless of where they are in the country, how big their team is – or even what services and treatments they offer.
You see this is more like one of those universal laws of business.
Despite so many often claiming that their business is in some way “different” that’s rarely the case. The goal of just about every business is to make a profit for the owners – without that it’s a charity or an expensive hobby.
The irony of this – and whilst I offer absolutely no judgement whatsoever if you are there yet or not with this one – is that I got this completely wrong for YEARS.
In a previous business I owner in a different industry all together… and I got it so wrong in fact that the business chewed me up and spat me out in a terrible, depressed state.
Not something I’d recommend to anyone.
Hollie, however, showed me a better way when we met and eventually started working together.
She knew this all along and boy did I wish I learned this lesson sooner.
The fact is that in business you can’t do it all on your own.
Now you may think you’ve heard that before or that this is all about delegation of tasks, but actually it goes much deeper than that.
When I look back at all of the success we’ve had since the turning point of getting it horribly wrong and searching for a better way – we’ve had help in all sorts of areas.
An amazing team, yes. Even if you work solo there are lots of jobs which you should be outsourcing to others.
Clearers at home and at the salon, people to wash your car, social media management if you have no time or love for it, book-keeping and accounts… the list goes on and on.
I mean, if you can outsource the education of your most prized possession – your children – to our crooked government of all people then I’m sure you can get someone to clean your salon for £16 an hour, right?
All so that your time is freed up so you can do what you’re brilliant at doing.
That may be delivering treatments and services or it may be leading your team and your business – depending on what you want your business to look like.
But there’s more…
It’s also about who you’re surrounding yourself with.
Where are your ideas coming from? Who are you bouncing them around off? Who are you inspired by?
All of this matters.
The most profitable salon owners I know not only outsource and delegate the low value tasks in their business and their life – but they also get around other winning salons and they seek the advice from others who’ve walked the path before them.
The really good news is that you don’t have to even figure it out.
The tracks to salon success are well worn at this point – you just have to follow them.
We know what works and what doesn’t.
There’s no requirement for guesswork or tens of thousands of pounds wasted on trial and error.
Our Hollie is going to be exposing some of what works in a special upcoming free training she’s hosting.
If any of what I’ve said here has resonated with you then I think you’ll enjoy it.
It’s called;
The Freedom Formula: How Salon Owners Are Escaping The Hamster Wheel and Building Six Figure Salons Which Run Without Them
It’ll be good.
And I know that for a fact because I’ve heard the presentation already.
I was a little shocked at how much she’s giving away, but she doesn’t listen to me about stuff like that!
So, if you want to join her then you need to register.
It’s all here.
