A Blog Post About Blogging! thumbnail

So today I wanted to write a blog about blogging!

Blogging is a massively underused tool that can really help your business – and everyone should be jumping on the blog bus and getting involved.

You may be reading this and thinking the same two things that many people have said to me before;

1. What on earth would I blog about?   and

2. How will it benefit my business?

Well, panic not – I’m going to answer those questions herein.

What to blog about…

Right now, you are reading one of my blogs that I’ve written to help beauty business owners be more successful.

Every week, I sit down and think hard about how I can help you – I want my blogs to have value for you and to teach you something useful.  I’m sharing my knowledge with you.

I want you to think about what knowledge you have, that your clients would like to learn about.

You may think there isn’t much to talk about, but it’s important to remember that you are an expert in your field and you’ve got lots to share.

Here are a few ideas for a nail business;

– How to maintain the health of your nails

– ‘We’ve test run 5 new gel polishes – here’s our results!’

– New season nail shades

Be sure to add images, keep it lighthearted and interesting.

Mix your blogs up, and keep at them.

I see so many websites that have a blog button, and it leads to one blog post, from 12 months before that says ‘Welcome to our blog’ and nothing more.

Don’t fall into this trap!   Your clients will see this and won’t be impressed!

How blogging will benefit your business…

If you write a blog about growing long and healthy nails, for example, and someone searches online for the same thing, they’ll find your blog, which will in turn bring them to your website.

And that’s just what you want! Traffic!

It also promotes you as an expert in your field and shows that you know your stuff.

A great blog that helps people will mean your clients trust you and have confidence in you, your business and your ability.

A blog is a great communication tool as well, so you can email your clients when you have a new blog and post it to your Facebook page to let them know you’ve got more information.

Google and other search engines LOVE a good blog too!  While they probably aren’t interested in reading about which shade of pink is hottest this season, they will scan your posts for keywords when someone searched for related things – so you have more chance of the finding you if your blog is filled with keywords (keywords are words that relate to your business – don’t go over the top with them – but be sure to mention the important points like your service, your location and so on).

Just remember, a great blog needs to be:

– Interesting

– Relevant to your business

– Made up of text and images

Blog regularly, let your clients know you are blogging and use those keywords!

Happy blogging!
