Episode Show Notes
With just 54 sleeps till Christmas, ‘tis truly the season to share your salon’s wonderful atmosphere with those around!
The prospect of holding a seasonal event can be equal parts exciting and intimidating, particularly for the smaller salons among our industry, but it’s worth the worry with the connections and collaborations you can create by opening your doors for an event.
Join us as we kick off the second year of The Salonology Show (yes, last episode was in fact the podcast’s 1st birthday) with topics ranging from what’s next after you achieve business freedom, Ryan’s dream Lego set, and some hilarious anecdotes from a somewhat intoxicated visit to Epcot…
This episode of The Salonology Show covers:
- Whether it’s a good idea to hold a Christmas event this year for your salon
- What’s next once you’ve finally achieved true business freedom
- Our pick of the best of Disney’s parks & rides

Episode Highlights
“I just think that after having 18 months of openings, closures, and all sorts of craziness, the opportunity to invite somebody in if you have the capacity is really powerful at the moment because our community is looking for connections with their salon suppliers right now. I think that you have the opportunity to really connect with your client base by inviting people through the doors.” – 4:40 – Hollie Power
“You can build extra deep bonds when you meet people in person, right? That’s hard to do otherwise. I just think you want to take every opportunity you can to deepen the bonds as much as possible with people at the moment. Plus, it gives you incredible social media content!” – 6:05 – Ryan Power
“It’s a great time to market who you are and what you do to get people in before Christmas, and get them prepped & ready with hair, makeup, skin treatments, body treatments, whatever it is that you offer. You’ve got the opportunity to pre-sell packages for the new year.” – 11:10 – Hollie Power
“We’ve just re-launched our Gold Club, and now there’s a free level as well. So if you’ve been thinking about trying to get more involved with what we do, but you’ve been put off for whatever reason, there’s now a free level you can join and the Christmas gift, packages and products will all be included in the free level too!” – 14:00 – Ryan Power
“What I really want is one of the original Lego monorail sets, the old original train ones, because they were really, really expensive when I was a child. In fact, they’re really expensive now, but I’ve got more money now than I had when I was a child…” –16:35 – Ryan Power
“There’s always going to be stuff to do when you have a business. Even if you’re delegating, and you have some level of business freedom, if you own a business, there will always be some responsibility. So you always have to keep an eye on things, you’ll probably have to manage that delegation to a degree as well, you just won’t have the stress levels that come with trying to do everything yourself.” – 19:00 – Hollie Power
“If it’s business freedom that you’ve got, then the question becomes what would you want to do if you weren’t working? So maybe it’s spending more time with the kids, or more time with the other half, or maybe it’s taking up needle work!” – 20:25 – Ryan Power

“If anybody doesn’t know, I’m a massive Disney fan. I love the Disney parks and so does Lindsey. We often talk Disney when we communicate and tag each other in various Disney related things. My favourite park is, of course, the Magic Kingdom because it’s the original one in Florida and I absolutely love it.” – 25:10 – Hollie Power
