Should I Run Facebook Ads? thumbnail

A lot of people ask me whether Facebook is right for their business or not and whether they should be running Facebook ads on it.

Some people – me included – have seen some excellent returns from Facebook ads and it makes up one of the main pillars of their marketing strategy.

Some other people have been complaining, saying that they no longer see any results from Facebook and are disappointed as nobody sees their posts anymore.

So, who is right?

Well, probably all of the above.   Facebook ads can certainly pay dividends when done correctly, however it is true that organic (that is, unpaid) reach is declining.

So is it worth you trying it out for your business?

Before I address that question, let me share some statistics with you about Facebook.

Facebook currently has 1.3 billion users.

I’ll repeat that for you, 1.3 BILLION!

Of which around 48% log in EVERY day.

So, do you think that some of your clients are therefore hanging out on Facebook everyday?

YOU BET THEY ARE!

With so many of your paying clients right there in one place socialising everyday wouldn’t it be just great if you could reach out to them and put your business right under their noses?

Well with Facebook ads you can do just that!

So, in short, if you feel your clients are on Facebook daily then I absolutely would recommend at least trying some Facebook advertising.

It may be that your target demographic are not on Facebook.

Perhaps your services are aimed specifically at elderly people, or people who live on the moon!

I’m joking, but of course you need to check for yourself if your ideal client hangs out on Facebook or not.

(To be fair, there are even plenty of elderly Facebookers these days!)

Is This How You Feel When Considering Facebook Ads?

Help is at hand.

With the incredible targeting tools which Facebook now offers you, for free, I would have guessed that you will be able to find plenty of your ideal clients right there under your nose.

Facebook makes it incredibly easy for find out, in advance, before you pay them a penny.

Since Facebook became a publicly traded company in 2012 the goal posts have changed slightly for business page owners.

In years gone by everything you shared with your fans would be seen by each of them.

Sadly, that is no longer the case.

It maybe now that your posts are only seen by 10% of your fans. Or maybe even less!

It’s time to get your purse out!

The effect of this, therefore, is that if you want your fans to see your content you must pay for it.

But don’t let this put you off Facebook advertising. As long as you are getting a return on your investment then it’s worth doing.

And thankfully due to the helpful, and free, tools which Facebook provides you, you can see exactly how well each advert is performing and whether or not it is worth your while continuing with it.

As with all advertising I would always recommend trialling first with a small and manageable budget, as you will make mistakes in the early running.  However with time, and plenty of trial and error, you will soon be able to improve your results.

You’re able to set budget amounts with Facebook so that you can put a limit on the amount you can spend each day or per campaign, however even just £10 per day will add up quickly if you’re not keeping an eye on it.

If you’d like to try Facebook advertising but you’re not sure where to start then pop a note in the comments box below – I have some exciting news coming up soon where I’ll be teaching lots of my tricks and holding your hand all the way through your first campaign.
